Illinois 2000 Gallery

The Illinois 2000 Photo Trek and contest was sponsored by American Photo magazine and the Illinois Dept of Tourism. The pictures from this photo trek are going to be published in a special collectors edition of American Photo magazine (Jan 2001  last I heard) and will also become part of the Official Collection of Illinois images and will be on display at conferences and promotions for the state.

The photo trek was not open to just anyone. Only 40 photographers were allowed to compete for the $10,000 grand prize and they had to submit a portfolio to qualify. Out of 280+ portfolios that were submitted by amateur/semi professional photographers from across the country, mine was selected! I was so psyched.

You can view my portfolio submission here.

Here are my shots that I submitted to American Photo magazine for the contest.

The winning photographs as well as all other photographs from the other trekkers can be viewed at the mentorseries web site. The submitted photos will be used in an upcoming special edition of American Photo magazine (Jan 2001 was the last date I heard) and also in various Illinois Tourism brochures and promotions.

Overall I had a blast and have gone on two other treks - West Virginia -2000 (open to anyone and no contest). and Texas 2001 where I shot all digital. Texas 2001 was like the Illinois with a qualifying portfolio and a contest. Here is my Texas 2001 qualifying portfolio and my contest submissions.
